About Us

Supporting traffic policies that are more equitable for everyone.

Who We Are

We are a coalition of community members, families who have been impacted by police violence, and numerous groups and organizations that work in everything from social justice advocacy, transportation policy, public safety, and more. We seek to make our roads in Washington safer by implementing traffic policies that are more equitable for everyone.

Washington state has seen a multi-year increase in traffic deaths, largely due to impaired, distracted, and dangerous driving. Yet our limited resources are being used to enforce minor maintenance issues like broken taillights. Additionally, data has long shown that traffic stops disproportionately affect drivers of color, often leading to unnecessary tension, racial profiling and discrimination — all without improving public safety.

We are calling on the state legislature to pass Rep. Chipalo Street and Sen. Javier Valdez’s Traffic Safety for All legislation, to help law enforcement prioritize using resources on enforcing high-risk safety-related traffic regulations — ensuring we all get home safe. After all, we all want safer roads, don’t we?
